Modeling and Look Dev Artist

ABOUT THE JOB


Join the Stim team in a hybrid role combining Set & Props Modeling and Look Development. Working in direct collaboration with the Art Director, Director, and technical teams, you will bridge the gap between asset creation and rendering. You will be responsible for modeling, texturing, and shading environments, sets, and props for our series project, Mick Mini Chef 2.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Model and sculpt high-quality 3D sets, environments, and props (both hard-surface and organic) based on concept art and production requirements.
  • Develop the final visual appearance (lookdev), create and apply shaders and textures for sets and props in accordance with artistic and technical guidelines.
  • Ensure clean topology, UV layouts, and material setups optimized for pipeline integration and rendering efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with upstream and downstream departments (layout, lighting, rendering) to guarantee visual consistency and quality throughout production.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and template setups for the team when necessary.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Solid experience in hard-surface and organic modeling (sets and props) using Maya and ZBrush.
  • Strong knowledge of look development, shading, texturing, and render engines, primarily Arnold.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard texturing tools (Substance Painter, Mari...).
  • Experience with node-based software and architectures (Katana, Gaffer, Houdini, Solaris...).
  • Excellent eye for detail, volume, scale, perspective, proportions, and visual aesthetics.
  • Ability to work rigorously while respecting technical and pipeline optimization constraints.
  • Ability to work as a team, communicate effectively, and meet production deadlines.
  • Fluency in English or French.

 

NICE TO HAVE

 

  • Experience or basic knowledge of set dressing.
  • In-depth proficiency in Gaffer / Katana / Solaris / Houdini.
  • Knowledge of Python, OSL, or other scripting languages to optimize modeling and lookdev workflows.
  • Fluency in French.
